It's really important you follow the correct instructions because this is very different to your typical dye.

If you have NEVER coloured your hair or you haven't coloured your hair in the last six months you can see the instructions on how to apply here. The instructions are really clear and easy to use however they are for hair that has been coloured in the last six months. You get that mum? Got your glasses on? I've explained clearly for you now! (She tried this dye too but didn't read the containers and mixed the developer and conditoner and applied the colourant as conditioner afterwards. You mix 1 + 1, then add 2 then finish with the CONDITIONER. 2 is the Serum and the Silver tube is CONDITIONER. Tube and Bottle marked 1 are the colour and developer.

Inside the box you get a whole bunch a goodies! You get a brush and tray (more like trés professionnel, see what I did there? No? Oh well.) And there's a pair of really high quality gloves like the ones they use in salons. No say in the shade? The depth? The undertone? The braaaand?! Be cool Holly, This woman raised you without screwing up and she knows her way around the odd box dye or two, You'll be grand! Gulp. She told me not to worry, she'd lift a brown one from the Chemist and hung up. Yeah so after a week of turmoil I settled on going back to brunette and called my mum who shipped me some dye. I considered going lighter again, perhaps to a platinum but I was shocked to see the dye I usually like to buy in Ireland for like €4 cost CHF16 *faints* (FYI CHF16 = €15) I knew Switzerland was pricey but oouuch. I browsed a salon's services and almost choked on my Starbucks when I seen how much a Wash, Cut & Blow-dry cost.I'll spare you. They didn't look really bad or anything but being the perfectionist, having a brown stripe down the centre of my head just ain't my thang. Long, blonde hair became a shoulder-length, brown bob.haha I know right?! Anyway, My roots needed a serious doing. I coloured my hair 6 days ago using the Salonist and I've washed my hair once since.

I always coloured roots, then ends so I always ended up with a more professional finish. I research products and techniques, everything. I always figured they wouldn't make home dyes if they weren't going to have a similar effect to the salon treatment. Yep, all done in my own bedroom with the help from my mum, sister and even my boyfriend! I have always taken a lot of care to colour my hair. I have always home dyed my hair various shades of gingery reds, deep browns, light browns and most recently, blonde.
